Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, demons, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
